The Waterway PVC buttress for pool and hot tub plumbing has a 2" slip (S) on one end and 2" threads on the other end. The slip end of this union is designed to fit over a fitting with a 2” spigot end or schedule 40 PVC pipe or flex hose referenced as 2” with an actual outside diameter of 2-3/8”. The 2" threads have an actual OD of 3". 2" Buttress thread only works with 2" buttress thread unions, not compatible with FPT fittings. It's important to note that in the pool and hot tub industry, plumbing dimensions are referred to as nominal sizes rather than actual sizes.
