The Waterway hot tub pump union 400-4060 has threads referenced as 1.5” with an actual inside diameter of 2-7/16” and a slip end designed to fit over 1.5” PVC flex hose or fittings with a 1.5” spigot end. The slip end of this union is designed to fit over a fitting with a 1.5” spigot end or schedule 40 PVC pipe or flex hose referenced as 1.5” with an actual outside diameter of 1-7/8”. It's important to note that in the pool and hot tub industry, plumbing dimensions are referred to as nominal sizes rather than actual sizes.
