Replacement Hot Tub Parts

Choosing the right hot tub parts to repair your spa in Canada is simple. Whether you need to replace the pump, heater, or jets, or repair them to keep your spa functioning smoothly and efficiently, you’ll find that Pool & Hot Tub Depot offers the widest selection of replacement hot tub parts and equipment from top brands across the industry at the most competitive prices.

If you're not sure what could be causing a problem then take a look at some of the most common signs that may indicate your spa may require repairs to the pump, heater or jets with new hot tub parts.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Pump Troubleshooting

Your hot tub pump is a vital part of your spas operating equipment. Typical problems that indicate your pump needs to be repaired:

    - Pump just hums, does not run
    - Pump is very loud
    - Motor stops after a few minutes
    - Wet end leaking

  • Heater Troubleshooting

A hot tubs heater maintains the water at your set temperature. Common problems that indicate the heater should be replaced:

    - Breaker trips on start up
    - Can't maintain water temperature
    - Leaking at the terminals
    - Burnt connections

  • Jets Troubleshooting

Hot tub jets provide amazing hydrotherapy in spas. Consider replacing your hot tub jets if your experiencing some of these problems:

    - Pop out soon as the pump starts
    - Spinner nozzle no longer works
    - Broken or cracked face
    - Leaking air valve

How to Match a Replacement Hot Tub Pump

To accurately match a replacement pump, inspect the specifications on the existing motor label(s) and physically measure the wet end:

  • Voltage and Speed: Confirm whether the pump is 115V or 230V. Then determine if it is a 1-speed or 2-speed pump (used for low-speed heating/filtering and high-speed jet therapy). Typically a 1-speed pump can be replaced with compatible 2 speed from the same brand.
  • Amperage: Do not rely on advertised horsepower (HP), as ratings vary significantly across manufacturers. Match the amp draw (A) listed on the motor label as closely as possible (matching both high-speed and low-speed amp draws on 2-speed models) to avoid tripping circuit breakers or overloading the control board.
  • Brand and model: Always replace the pump with the same brand to ensure proper plumbing alignment. The intake and discharge positions and thread lengths vary from brand to brand.
  • Plumbing Unions & Discharge Orientation: Measure the outer diameter (OD) of the intake and discharge threaded ports (typically 1.5" [2-3/8" OD], 2" [3" OD], or 2.5" [3-5/8" OD]). Note whether the discharge connection points straight up (center discharge) or off to the side (side discharge).

How to Match a Replacement Hot Tub Heater

Matching a replacement heater tube or assembly requires verifying electrical output, plumbing dimensions, and sensor configuration:

  • Kilowatt (kW) & Voltage Rating: Check the heater label for its wattage, typically ranging from 4.0kW to 5.5kW, and operating voltage (115V or 230V). Selecting a higher kW rating than the spa's control system and electrical supply can cause electrical failures or tripped breakers and is not recommended.
  • Manifold Length and Plumbing Diameter: Measure the overall length of the metal heater tube (common standard sizes are 15 inches or 12 inches) as well as the plumbing connection diameter (usually 1.5" or 2" slip/union fittings).
  • Sensor & Control System Compatibility: Identify the heater type and brand (e.g., Balboa, Gecko, HydroQuip). Check whether the heater uses integrated internal sensors (such as Balboa M7 dual-sensor technology) or external pressure switches and temperature sensor studs mounted directly on the manifold.
  • Element Style & Housing Mounts: If replacing only the internal heating element rather than the entire stainless steel tube, ensure the terminal post spacing, element bend style, and mounting flange match the original housing.

How to Match a Replacement Hot Tub Jet

Hot tub jets are brand-specific and not universal, requiring precision matching of the jet internal (insert) to the spa shell body:

  • Jet Face Diameter: Measure the total diameter across the front outer face of the jet insert (common sizes include 2", 3", 4", or 5"+).
  • Most Important To Match The Rear Diffuser & Locking Mechanism: Pop out the old jet insert and inspect the plastic rear casing (the diffuser). Check how it locks into the jet body:
  • Snap-In / Push-In: Uses retaining clips or notched tabs.
  • Threaded / Twist-Lock: Features screw threads or rotational locking pins near the base.
(Looking up the part number stamped directly on the back of the white or clear plastic diffuser is often the fastest way to confirm an exact match).
  • Water Pattern / Massage Style: Select the internal nozzle design based on preferred therapy style - such as directional (single adjustable nozzle), rotary/twin-rotary (spinning dual streams), or massage/pulsating.
