Spa Pack Troubleshooting

The hot tub spa pack, often called the power pack, is essentially the control centre of your hot tub. A hot tub spa pack contains a computer circuit board with a powerful processor that manages every function of your spa, including the pumps. Besides the computer board, a spa pack also includes an attached heater that the computer controls to maintain your hot tub water at your desired temperature. The three most common problems that can prevent your spa pack from operating the hot tub are: 

  • GFCI Breaker Tripping

    The most common cause of your hot tub GFCI breaker tripping is a short in the heating element inside the heater tube. The heating element is a part that deteriorates over time, and when it burns out, it causes a short that trips the GFCI breaker.

    Typically replacing the heating element should solve this problem.

  • Not Heating

    When your hot tub stops heating, it is usually due to a burned-out heating element. Sometimes, it can also be due to a faulty circuit board if the relays on the board for the heater have burned out or stopped responding to the circuit board's commands.

    Once determined if it's the heating element or circuit board, replacing the part should solve this problem.

  • Nothing Works

    If your hot tub suddenly stops working and your electrician has confirmed the correct power supply, the most common cause is that the small fuse on the circuit board has blown. This fuse protects the computer and, if blown, prevents it from starting.

    If the fuse is confirm blown replacing it should solve the problem.
